We’ve owned Tashmoo since February 2009. At first we continued the tradition of running it as a boarding house but sadly this wasn’t viable so now, as well as enjoying it as our Vineyard retreat and long term renovation project, we rent out the house for the summer here.
Along with its quirkiness, one of the things we love about Tashmoo is that it’s within a short walk of Owen Little Beach, Vineyard Haven Yacht Club and the Vineyard Haven ferry. The rest of the island is accessible by public transport, bicycle or taxi which means no need for a car.
We have great long term plans for the house and eventually we hope to be able to use the property year round. We’ve begun the careful renovation of the house and are working out ways of keeping as much of the building’s original fabric while making it work as a high performance, 21st century ‘green’ building which can be enjoyed by many generations to come.
